The state's chief regulator of thrifts has resigned after allegations of improprieties in dealings between and financial institutions.

William Drumm on Sept. 8 resigned as superintendent of the Ohio Division of Savings Loan Associations and Savings Banks. In a phone interview last week, Mr. Drumm said he "was given two choices: resign I fired."

The ultimatum came fro Department of Commerce director Donna Owens, Mr Drumm said. Ms. Owens was out of her office late last week and failed to return a phone call.
