May 15--Wilco albums for years have been a cumulative journey into alienation.

From its country-rock origins in 1994 through "A Ghost Is Born" a decade later, the Chicago band moved increasingly into avant-rock experimentalism, filling its albums with lacerating bursts of white noise, odd rhythms and sonic disorder while leader Jeff Tweedy sang about loneliness and disaffection.
