Many persons in both Canada and the US are being falsely accused of child molestation by plaintiffs who only recall the abuse after hypnosis or psychotherapy. A growing number of experts believe that such memories are only conjured up by patients who are highly suggestible during psychotherapy. Given the growing knowledge about the dangers of psychotherapy in recollecting childhood abuse, many courts are becoming more critical of testimonies gathered through such methods.
