Calcium intake is significantly related to insulin sensitivity. (1) Moreover, in a study of almost 85,000 women, calcium intake was inversely related to the risk of non-insulin-dependent (type 2) diabetes. Women in the highest quintile had 70% of the risk of those in the lowest quintile. (2)
