Scrapping ancient history as an A-level subject will mean the loss of one of the most intellectually demanding, rigorous and rewarding courses, an MP has warned.
Peter Luff (Con Mid Worcestershire) said the success of historical epics such as the film 300 was evidence of a continuing interest.
And he told Education Ministers he had been vigorously lobbied by his daughter, who took an ancient history A-level four years ago.
