Abstract -- Extensive pesticide use on crops grown on the Southern High Plains (SHP) represents a considerable anthropogenic stressor to ephemeral aquatic ecosystems. These short-lived aquatic ecosystems, known in the southwest as playas, are epicenters of biodiversity on the High Plains.
