Oh, no! First Pluto gets demoted, now Xena gets an ax in the back! What's going on?

First of all, Xena is the largest known dwarf planet in our solar system. (Yes, it's even larger than Pluto.) Xena was discovered in 2003, when it was given the boring designation 2003 UB313. But after some careful deliberation, the discoverers decided to unofficially name UB313 "Xena," after the title character from the television show Xena: Warrior Princess.
