Publican cures drought as banks run out of cash.(NEWS)

IT'S not often that you get a publican handing money over the bar.

But such was the case last weekend when all of the ATMs in Listowel ran dry of cash in the middle of the bank holiday weekend.

As a result, Christy Walsh of Christy's Bar found himself handing out loans of EU50 to thirsty drinkers unable to get money from the hole in the wall.

The first sign of a drought came when the Bank of Ireland machine ran dry on Easter Saturday night, followed by the AIB ATM on Sunday morning.
