The completion of John Cage's 'Freeman Etudes.'

John Cage's 'Freeman Etudes' were completed using a chance composition process. Cage finished the work with assistance in 1989 and 1990, having done 17 pieces from 1977 to 1980. The completion process utilized note identification and five types of special notes. The I Ching was used for some note assignments. The report and additional remarks of an assistant are reproduced, along with remarks of Cage.
