Sunday marks the 300th anniversary of the birth of Swiss mathematical genius Leonhard Euler, the prime architect of modern mathematics.

Euler (pronounced "Oiler") is surely not going to lead the Sunday-morning talk shows, but as I survey the puzzling mathematical questions of our day, I have concluded that someone of Euler's genius and perspicacity is sorely needed.
