Gardner restaurant revives the old diner experience.(NEWS)

Art and Sandy Mehrtens just opened a living museum in Gardner.

Called Soda Fountain of Youth, this spacious family restaurant, located in the Timpany Boulevard Shopping Plaza in Gardner since the beginning of March, has the feel of a 1920s American diner.

This is no coincidence.

The long metal yellow counter with red stripes was saved from a legitimate ice cream diner that went out of business. The tall wooden booth...
