CLINTON - The former American Legion post on Chestnut Street, which is under consideration as the site of a new senior citizens center, is not a designated historical building, Council on Aging members and staff said yesterday.

"It's not a historical place," said Elaine J. Patterson, the council's secretary, as she displayed a March 23 letter from Philip Bergen, a preservation planner for the Massachusetts Historical Commission.
