The Shroud of Turin is regarded as an artistic forgery and yet some religious groups and scientists insist that it is the burial cloth of Jesus. They contend that the presence of Palestinian pollen grains on the shroud refutes the carbon-14 test results. It was Swiss criminologist Max Frei-Sulzer who examined the shroud and reported the presence of the pollens. However, well-known microanalyst Walter McCrone has given a convincing counterargument to Frei's findings.
