Many agencies have investigated the impact of environmental and chemical exposures and the Right-to-Know about potential hazards in the workplace including chemical exposures. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration's (OSHA) Hazard Communication Standard established the right-to-know about potential hazards, including health threats posed by chemicals in the workplaces in 1983. The threat is still present and most nurses and other health care workers do not have sufficient knowledge about the risks in the work place to protect themselves.
