Universities in Arab countries have the responsibility to use education in promoting economic, social and cultural development. The influences of Western culture should be utilized by Arab Gulf universities as tools for growth and nation building. The Gulf universities should enhance their relationship with the government to strengthen their stance in promoting education and research as powerful tools for local development.
