Mar. 17--WILKES-BARRE -- Police never knew William Perrego was a wanted man before he became a murder suspect in the beating death of 42-year-old Lewis Jones.

That's because the Luzerne County District Attorney's Office held onto an arrest warrant for Perrego, 29, for eight business days before delivering it to the Clerk of Courts Office on Thursday -- the day after Jones' body was found inside an East North Street home.
