NORTHBRIDGE - Rebekah MacKay is an avid and aspiring artist. Acrylic paint is her medium of choice because it dries fast.

That characteristic suits MacKay perfectly because this Whitinsville Christian senior is quite familiar with speed.

On Saturday, MacKay turned in a smart, well-paced effort to finish second in the 2 mile at the Division 2 state championships in 11 minutes, 11.16 seconds. That's a personal-best time, be it indoor or out, and one that brought a smile to her face because, yup, it's all about going fast.
