QUESTION Some years ago, Dudley Savage used to broadcast regularly from the ABC Theatre, Plymouth, playing its Compton theatre organ. Where is the instrument now?
THE As Prescribed broadcasting organ made famous by Dudley Savage was removed from the ABC Plymouth cinema in February 2006, where it had been entombed under a stage extension since the cinema became a bingo hall in 1976.
Though just about playable, the installation of a new false ceiling had cut its pipe chamber sound egress in half.
