The Last King of Scotland is a movie about Idi Amin but also about how the West related to him. Many have seen the latter as its weakness, but it should rather be seen as one of its strengths.
You probably know the story: a young Scot, Nicholas Garrigan, fresh out of medical school in 1971 decides, randomly, to do mission work in Uganda for adventure, and to do some good.
He ends up becoming personal physician to the infamous Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, brilliantly portrayed in an Oscar-winning performance by Forest Whitaker.
