Osman's Pies turning off ovens: It's been a sweet 57 years but Saturday is the last day for landmark Stow business and fourth generation of bakers.

Mar. 9--Baking pies has been a way of life for four generations of Osman women. But Saturday, the landmark Stow business Osman's Pies will close its doors after 57 years. Co-owner Wendy Crowe, great-granddaughter of Osman's Pies founder Lena Osman, said sales have been flat in the last couple of years, while ingredient costs have gone up. The family-owned bakery, whose three-year lease is up March 31, also has faced increased competition from grocery stores, whose pies have improved in taste and generally cost less.
