The Anoka charter school Cygnus Academy has been contacted by its sponsor, Wayzata-based Friends of Ascension, to explain a recent lack of financial reporting and the resignation of six school board members since the school opened in 2005.

A letter sent to the school in late February said Friends of Ascension "has significant governance and finance concerns regarding Cygnus Academy," according to the school's director, Virginia Heesch.

Fifteen board members have resigned since the school was founded in 2004.
