Stock exchange is poised to open in Uganda. (Kampala Stock Exchange)

The Kampala Stock Exchange, Uganda's first national stock exchange, is scheduled to open in Jun. 1994. Businessmen and merchant banks have been clamoring since 1989 for the establishment of a stock exchange through which they could raise cheap capital from investors. Although the stock exchange has not officially started, shares are reportedly being traded in the over-the-counter market.

The long-awaited Kampala Stock Exchange - Uganda's first national stock exchange - is to be officially inaugurated before the 1994/95 budget is unveiled, in June.
