Abstract
Insights from ethnomusicology and psychological anthropology suggest a new perspective on the flute players mentioned only by Matthew at the wake service of a twelve year old girl. This paper was read at the International Meeting of the Context Group at the Pontifical University of Salamanca, Spain, July 2006.
