Tragedy as fit, healthy mother is killed by a sore throat.

A FIT and healthy mother who had never taken a day off work sick in her life died after developing tonsillitis.

Louise Christie was told to take painkillers and rest after going to her GP with what is normally a common and harmless condition.

But within a few days, she was unable even to swallow the pills because of the pain - and just three weeks later, she was dead.

Miss Christie, 37, is understood to have developed a peritonsillar abscess, a severely- infected swelling in her throat.
