Whilst I normally read with a measure of good natured indulgence Harry Katz's regular diatribes in the trade press, I find frankly appalling his suggestion that companies should consider ditching employer sponsored retirement funding.

We know that most of the public's disaffection with all things to do with pensions stems largely from Government intransigence over the issues that really matter and tinkering at the edges with pension reforms.

But, if employers simply shuck off responsibility for setting aside for retirement a proportion of their workforces'total ...
