MICHAEL HOURIGAN was yesterday not getting carried away about the chance of Beef Or Salmon in the Gold Cup, despite the fact his charge would now seem to represent Ireland's best chance of retaining chasing's top prize following the defections of last year's winner War Of Attrition and In Compliance.

With the 2005 Gold Cup winner, Kicking King, also missing the race for the second consecutive year due to injury, Ireland's hopes of a hat-trick of Gold Cup victories have dwindled sharply.
