Feb. 28--There have been about 20 documented cases of canine distemper in the last two weeks among dogs in and around Pecos, according to veterinarian Michael Callahan of Pecos Valley Veterinary Hospital, whocalled it "the worst I've ever seen" in 18 years. Callahan said the potential reason for the outbreak is the high number of stray and loose dogs in Pecos.
