Novelist, art critic and publisher Ted Castle died in New York on May 16. Born Frederick Corson Castle Jr in Lockport, NY, Castle adopted the name Ted while at Williams College, and subsequently wrote under the names Frederick Ted Castle, Ted Castle, and FT Castle. Quitting a short career in journalism in 1963, after a year on the New York Times Sunday Magazine, he began writing a lengthy prose work about everything that happened to him that year.
