Snow may bring a bright sparkle to the landscape, but scientists say it has a dark side.

It contributes to the hole in the ozone layer, for one thing. And did you know it causes lightning? And can affect global warming?

That's in addition to the hazards we know about, such as slippery sidewalks and roads.
