Sarah Brickner and her friends got bored during last year's homecoming dance at Apple Valley High and left early. Now a sophomore, she hasn't gone to another dance since then.
Tatiana Burton, another sophomore, said teachers with flashlights discourage kids from dancing too close on the dimly lit dance floor. "They're being a little too strict," she said. "None of my friends go."
