Hans Memlinc was one of the most illustrious and talented painters to emerge from Bruges, Belgium. He was among the independent masters who belonged to the Bruges Guild of Painters and was known for his imagination and technique, best seen in his depictions of saints and angels which can still be found in the town's churches and buildings. Memlinc died on Aug. 11, 1494, but his genius is still respected throughout the world.
