Feb. 14--Seven Southern California public-sector and home-care union locals that are part of the Service Employees International Union, including Local 1997 in Riverside County, have united to form one big local, union officials announced Tuesday .
Local 721 now represents 85,000 public-service workers, among them 6,000 workers in Riverside County.
Union members recently approved the merger.
All of the union's contracts will remain in place.
