In this recent exhibition Philip Wofford showed seven large abstract paintings, the surfaces of which were heavily laden with all manner of flotsam and jetsam. Known for painterly gestures and wild color schemes, Wofford, in his new work, embeds myriad small, found objects in the paint and varnish to provide an added pictorial dimension and perhaps a vague narrative content.
