Feb. 8--After a near five-hour debate, the state Senate overwhelmingly passed a bill to outlaw cockfighting in New Mexico.
Senate Bill 10 goes on to the House of Representatives, which two years ago passed an even stricter bill by a wide margin.
"I do believe the era of cockfighting is over in New Mexico," said Sen.
Carlos Cisneros, D-Questa, who voted for the bill.
