Feb. 2--MARIANNA -- The Jackson County Sheriff's Office still is handling calls, even after the loss of a deputy and the sheriff's wife, who were killed Tuesday evening by two gunmen.

Maj. John Dennis wanted to let the citizens of Jackson County know the Sheriff's Office is ready and able to protect them.

"You always have to expect the unknown, and the community needs to know we are here for them," Dennis said.
