With aspirin's numerous advantages in patients with myocardial infarction, why aren't more physicians using it in this setting? Not the least among aspirin's benefits is its powerful effect on reducing mortality from myocardial infarction if it is administered soon after the onset of symptoms. A recent analysis suggests that virtually all (99.9 percent) of patients with acute myocardial infarction are potentially eligible to receive aspirin.[1]
