Scientific articles about nutrition, particularly in studies of beverages, appear to be biased in favor of the food manufacturers who sponsored the studies, according to a report in the journal PLoS Medicine. The periodical is published by Public Library of Science; the study was conducted by physicians at Children's Hospital Boston.

Researchers say they discovered that beverage studies funded solely by industry were four to eight times more likely to have conclusions favorable to sponsors' financial interest than were studies with no industry funding. Earlier ...
