Jan. 25--When he declined the job offer from Carbondale High School three years ago, Ric Johns believed that latest opportunity lost marked the end of his quest to again be a football head coach.

"I was convinced the last train left town," Johns recalls.

But a whirlwind week for the overqualified assistant coach at Triad ended Sunday night with his choice of two jobs, both of which Johns considered too good to pass.
