Sep. 7--Carnival Hotels & Casinos, the Miami-based company working with the Wampanoag tribe to develop a gambling complex in New Bedford, moved aggressively yesterday to dispel questions about its ability to finance the proposed $175 million deal.

"Financing, for all of us, is not an issue on this project," said Carnival Hotels chairman and chief executive Sherwood M. Weiser. "We can satisfy anyone that the financing is and will be available at the time that the project becomes a reality."
