For fresh apricot lovers, the season is here.
Their peak days are numbered about 30 to 45 according to Bill Ferriera, president of the Apricot Producers of California. But apricots from Washington state are normally available through the end of August.
Although these butter-soft drupes are grown in warm-climate countries such as Chile, Turkey and Argentina, the vast majority of fresh ones hitting American supermarkets come from the Pacific West.
