CLIFTON PARK - The Rev. John L. Cairns is preparing to retire this month from St. Edward The Confessor after 25 years at what is now the largest parish in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany.
Cairns will turn 70 in November and will enjoy his retirement years in Clifton Park, filling in at various Catholic churches in the Capital Region as a sacramental minister and playing golf.
"I'm looking forward to retirement, but I guess I'm going to miss this place," said Cairns, who became pastor at St. Edward in 1981.
