Two hundred fifty years ago today, Benjamin Franklin and delegates to the Albany Congress came to town.
Eager to trade bloodshed for a treaty with local Native American tribes, they traveled here under difficult conditions to hammer out an alliance as they girded for the French and Indian War.
After three weeks of discussions from June 19 to July 11, 1754, the city, and Franklin, would never be viewed in the same vein again.
