Jan. 17--The man who was pulled Saturday from the Roanoke River died of drowning, the medical examiner's office said Tuesday.

Four people went into the river in the 1600 block of Wiley Drive and got William Jefferson Bohannon, 62, out of the water before rescuers got there.

Bohannon was pronounced dead later that day at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
