A Sherwood woman's quest to learn more about an era during which her late grandfather met Mahatma Gandhi on his visit to South Africa in the early 1900s has been answered by an Australian-based professor.

While passing through Durban last month after attending an International Diabetes Forum in Cape Town, Prof Krishna Somers of Perth read the article published in the Tribune Herald about Jennifer Kriste's photograph of her grandfather, Oswald Baxter Shepperson, a former Standard Bank manager in Heidelberg.
