Jan. 13--To look around Julie Virosteck's living room is to swim in a sea of cocker spaniels: portraits of cockers; cockers embroidered on pillows; everywhere one looks, another alert yet soulful face.

But the main event in December was the very alive Ch. Doggone Baditude, a red-and-white, parti-color cocker bred and raised by Virosteck at Doggone Cockers, her kennel in Lucerne Valley.
