Wind power: more U.S. electricity is coming out of thin air.

This has been a record-breaking year for wind power. By the end of 2006, power companies will have built thousands of new wind turbines that will produce 2,750 megawatts of electricity. That's enough electricity to power the state of Rhode Island. Wind turbines are windmills that generate electricity as they spin. "Wind energy is providing new electricity supplies that work for our country's economy, environment, and energy security" says Randall Swisher, executive director of the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).
