ALBANY -- The man running for vice president of the United States waited patiently and unnoticed among a pack of reporters questioning Sen. Alfonse D'Amato Tuesday morning at a news conference.
The senator finished and departed, preceded by television cameras seeking a shot of him entering the Legislative Office Building hallways. Most reporters followed, leaving a mostly empty room, and Mike Tompkins, Natural Law Party candidate, behind.
