On May 8, 1994, a new mandatory nutrition labeling program went into effect for most processed products (including vegetables) sold at retail. The Nutrition Labeling and Education Act of 1990 (NLEA), administered by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), will require most food processing firms to conform to new food labeling regulations.
