Agricultural researchers have discovered that crops infested with Russian wheat aphids have microscopic puncture marks which are visible under ultraviolet light. In addition, they found that the more puncture marks on leaves indicates that the crops were less palatable to the aphids. Through the discovery, agricultural scientists can more efficiently identify plants which are genetically-resistant to aphids.
