Greyhound's nationwide accident rate so far this year is down from 1990 but remains 40 percent higher than before the company replaced its striking drivers, according to statistics released Wednesday by the carrier.

Greyhound's new safety and security director, Ted Meyer, gave no explanation for why the accident rate remains higher than in 1989. He submitted the new crash data and a prepared statement to the state's Public Transportation Safety Board, then left the board's meeting without taking questions from the panel ...
